Save the Hair

My father saves his hair after he cuts it himself. He thought it would be special for my daughter to get it, so he mailed a baggie full to her. How strange is this?

It used to be common for people to save hair from family members and make mementos out of them. Some would be woven into fancy displays and become family heirlooms. Some people carry locks of hair from a loved one in a locket. They become especially meaningful when the person is no longer living.
